ATTENTION lads! Even in desert camouflage you can spot how stunning Gemma Atkinson charmed her way into the hearts of Britain’s brave troops.
Fully armed with those weapons of mass distraction, Gemma is featured as the cover girl on a special News of the World Forces Edition. She brings Christmas cheer and greetings to our men and women in Afghanistan, Iraq and around the world.
Last night trooper Gemma said: “It’s an honor to be doing this to support all our servicemen and women.
“They’re true heroes and making such sacrifices, away from their loved ones and friends, not knowing when they might next see them.
“It’s very humbling. We must all take time out to remember them this Christmas. They’re doing such a fantastic job.
”Gemma was joined in our big seasonal push for the troops by top chef Marco Pierre White, who traveled to Iraq to cook Christmas dinner.
And she said: “I’d love to go out in person to lend my support to the war effort and raise morale. If my being there helped cheer up one soldier it would be worthwhile. It must be hard for them separated from their families, especially at this time of year.
“My mother’s terrified of the prospect of me going out there but it’s a real possibility and I’d love to see it happen. It’s only a small gesture but I’d like to think I’ll be doing my bit for my country.”
Gemma, who recently split from Birmingham soccer star Marcus Bent, added: “I’ve two close friends serving in Iraq and Afghanistan so I know a little of what the troops and their families at home are going through.
It amazes me when I speak to those guys. Like all the troops out there they’re so committed. It makes me so proud to be British.
Let’s raise a glass to them all and wish everyone a speedy safe return home.”
